8.1 Achievement Point Awards

8.1.1. Awarding Achievement Points as an RVC or VC


To do this, log in to your Organized Play account on Paizo’s website and click on the Admin tab. On the Admin tab, click the link “Find Users to Grant Organized Play Points”. Search for the user by their Paizo ID, input the event number, select a point type from the dropdown menu, award the number of points they earned for staffing HQ (for instance, you may award them the same number of points you would a GM, multiplied by the modifier of your con (Premier vs. Premier+), and click Grant Points.

8.2 Requirements & Benefits for each Venture-Officer Rank

8.2.1 Venture-Agent

8.2.1.1 Venture-Agent Requirements

  • Ensure the venture-officer to whom they report has current contact information.
  • Maintain a current roster of volunteer GMs, organizers, and store/community contacts and supply this to the supervising VO.
  • Build a positive rapport with host locations and encourage promotion of organized events as well as promoting support of host location business. Ensure all relevant locations are utilizing the Retail Incentive Program.
  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment for all players per the Paizo Organized Play Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure scheduled games and events are open to all players per the Code of Conduct. Schedule games to best serve the needs of the community and the program.
  • Identify any community/behavioral issues to regional VL, so that they may begin the conflict resolution process.
  • Communicate with supervising Venture Officer on an as-needed basis, at least quarterly. Online/telephone meetings or email updates count for this requirement.
  • Submit quarterly status reports to the regional VL including the number/type of sessions run, current numbers of players/GMs, and other requested metrics. These reports are due the first Thursday of April/July/October/January.
  • Support the regional VC in maintaining a searchable online presence for the local area with current game information.
  • Maintain awareness of Organized Play updates and standards by using the online communication tools (namely, checking the VO Discord server at least once a week as outlined in the VO Handbook).
  • Mentor area players to become Game Masters, and mentor area Game Masters to improve their skills and become Venture Agents.
  • Play in at least one game per quarter at a public venue or convention. This game should be part of a currently active program and should be open to public signup.
  • Coordinate two sessions a month at the location where you coordinate games. Run one of the sessions, but the other can be run by any area GM.
  • Ensure organizers report games run at supervised locations on paizo.com.
  • Encourage stores to register as retailers on paizo.com/retailers.

8.2.1.2 Venture-Agent Benefits

  • Free PDFs of Paizo Organized Play products added to user account downloads on paizo.com.
  • Qualification for bonus GM rewards (as set per major convention).
  • Venture-Agent + region tag that displays when posting in the Organized Play forums.
  • Access to the Venture-Officer communication tools.

8.2.2 Venture-Lieutenant

8.2.2.1 Venture-Lieutenant Requirements

  • Maintain oversight authority of the Venture Agents in their assigned area.
  • Responsible for the promotion/demotion of all Venture-Agents that report directly to them.
  • Maintain a current roster of volunteer GMs, organizers, and store/community contacts and supply this to the reporting VC.
  • Identify potential VOs and consider them for positions within the Venture-Officer organization.
  • Ensure store coordinators are building a positive rapport with host locations and encouraging promotion of organized events as well as promoting support of host location business.
  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment for all players per the Paizo Organized Play Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure scheduled games and events are open to all players per the Code of Conduct. Schedule games to best serve the needs of the community and the program.
  • Act as the first step in the conflict-resolution process, working with Venture-Agents and location operators to resolve community issues utilizing established guidelines. Communicate any issue that cannot be resolved to the area VC up-channel.
  • Communicate with the regional VC on an as-needed basis, at least quarterly. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Communicate with VAs on an as needed basis, at least quarterly, to provide mentoring in running Organized Play activities, discuss local issues, and identify growth areas. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Compile information from VA reports and submit this information to regional VC on a quarterly basis in the manner requested by the VC. These reports are due the second Thursday of April/July/October/January.
  • Compile a list of all conventions with Organized Play activities in the community. Provide this list to the regional VC or supervising RVC on a quarterly basis to aid in planning.
  • Support the regional VC in maintaining a searchable online presence for the local area.
  • Maintain awareness of Organized Play updates and standards by using the online communication tools (namely, checking the VO Discord server at least once a week as outlined in the VO Handbook).
  • Mentor area Venture Officers through best practices in organized local game days and retail-focused events, and mentor players and GMs to become Game Masters and Venture Agents.
  • Play in at least one game per quarter at a public venue or convention. This game should be part of a currently active program and should be open to public signup.
  • Submit support requests for conventions within established time frames using online forms. File after-action reports within one week of convention end.
  • GM one or more blocks of Organized Play events at at least one convention. This * convention does not need to be in the home region of the Venture-Officer.
  • Ensure organizers report games run at supervised locations on paizo.com.
  • Choose one of the following activity paths to complete:
    • Coordinate two sessions a month at a public venue where any may attend. This may include running the sessions, if no other GMs are available.
    • Take the lead organizing Organized Play activities at one or more convention per year. Conventions must qualify for event support based on established criteria. These conventions do not need to be in the local community.
    • Actively participate in a Task Force as created by Organized Play staff or OPF leadership. Activity requirements are set by the Task Force Chair or relevant leadership and will be clearly communicated to Task Force members.
    • Run an additional 6 games per quarter in the local community.
    • Coordinate a Special Project with Organized Play staff or OPF leadership.

8.2.2.2 Venture-Lieutenant Benefits

  • Free PDFs of Paizo Organized Play products added to user account downloads on paizo.com, including PDFs of all Flip-Mat and Flip-Tile products, in addition to scenarios.
  • Credit of $50 on paizo.com per qualifying convention ran, maximum of $50 per calendar year.

  • Treated as one GM rank higher for qualification to run Exclusive events.
  • Venture-Lieutenant + region tag that displays when posting in the Organized Play forums.

8.2.3 Venture-Captain

8.2.3.1 Venture-Captain Requirements

  • Maintain oversight authority of Venture Lieutenants and Venture Agents serving in their assigned area.
  • Responsible for the promotion/demotion of any Venture-Lieutenants and any Venture-Agents that report directly to them.
  • Maintain a current roster of volunteer GMs, organizers, and store/community contacts in the assigned region.
  • Identify potential VOs and consider them for positions within the Venture-Officer organization.
  • Be familiar with local game stores or community organizations where Organized Play activities are conducted.
  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment for all players per the Paizo Organized Play Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure scheduled games and events are open to all players per the Code of Conduct. Schedule games to best serve the needs of the community and the program.
  • Act as the second step in the conflict-resolution process, working with Venture-Lieutenants to resolve community issues utilizing established guidelines. Communicate any issue that cannot be resolved to the RVC up channel.
  • Communicate with the Regional Venture Coordinator on an as-needed basis, at least quarterly. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Communicate with VLs on an as needed basis, at least quarterly, to provide mentoring in running Organized Play activities, discuss local issues, and identify growth areas. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Compile information from VL/VA reports and submit this information to RVC on a quarterly basis in the manner requested by the RVC. These reports are due the third Thursday of April/July/October/January.
  • Compile a list of all conventions with Organized Play activities in the community. Provide this list to RVC on a quarterly basis to aid in planning.
  • Maintain a searchable online presence for the area. This can be forums, social media, websites, or scheduling apps.
  • Maintain awareness of Organized Play updates and standards by using the online communication tools (namely, checking the VO Discord server at least once a week as outlined in the VO Handbook).
  • Mentor area Venture Officers through best practices in organizing and planning conventions and regular game days.
    • Promote Venture-Agents who are regularly organizing conventions to the Venture-Lieutenant position
    • Ensure that VAs/VLs who are organizing multiple conventions per year get the assistance they need, either in the form of help from VCs or additional VAs to spread the work out.
  • Assist GMs in achieving recognition requirements, including adjudication game(s) and evaluations. Ensure GMs get feedback after the game and report the results to Organized Play staff via applicable forms.
  • Play in at least one game per quarter at a public venue or convention. This game should be part of a currently active program and should be open to public signup.
  • Provide historical context of the area's play styles and history to the Regional Venture Coordinator.
  • Work with event organizers in the geographical area to submit support requests within established time frames using online forms. Follow up with event organizers to ensure filing of after-action reports within one week of convention end.
  • GM one or more blocks of Organized Play events at two different conventions a year. These conventions do not need to be in the home region of the Venture-Officer.
  • Ensure games run at conventions supervised locations are reported on paizo.com in a timely manner.
  • Choose one of the following activity paths to complete:
    • i. Take the lead organizing Organized Play activities at two or more conventions a year, or one Tier 1 convention (75+ tables). Conventions must qualify for event support based on established criteria. These conventions do not need to be in the local community.
    • Actively participate in a Task Force as created by Organized Play staff or OPF leadership. Activity requirements are set by the Task Force Chair or relevant leadership and will be clearly communicated to Task Force members.
    • Run an additional 6 games per quarter in the local community.
    • Coordinate a Special Project with Organized Play staff or OPF leadership.
    • Translate Organized Play documents if translations are not already provided by Paizo-licensed translators.

8.2.3.2 Venture-Captain Benefits

8.2.4 Regional Venture-Coordinator

8.2.4.1 Regional Venture-Coordinator Requirements

  • Act as the top authority regarding community building, responsible for oversight of all Venture Officers in the region.
  • Responsible for the promotion/demotion of all Venture-Captains and any Venture-Lieutenants/Venture-Agents that may report directly to them.
  • Maintain a current roster of Venture-Officers (VOs) in the region.
  • Identify potential VOs and consider them for positions within the Venture-Officer organization.
  • Be an active participant in the Regional Venture-Coordinator Council, responsible for community development and advising Organized Play staff.
  • Be familiar with regional Organized Play customs such as table variations and player travel patterns and identify them to Organized Play staff.
  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment for all players per the Paizo Organized Play Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure scheduled games and events are open to all players per the Code of Conduct. Schedule games to best serve the needs of the community and the program.
  • Act as the third step in the conflict-resolution process, working with VCs to resolve community issues utilizing established guidelines. Communicate any issue that cannot be resolved to OPF Leadership up channel.
  • Attend teleconferences with Organized Play staff and OPF leadership as requested.
  • Meet with VCs on an as-needed basis, at least quarterly, to provide mentoring in running Organized Play activities, discuss local issues, and identify growth areas. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Compile information from VC reports and submit this information to Organized Play staff on a quarterly basis due the last Thursday of April/July/October/January.
  • Find conventions within the region which would benefit from a Paizo staff presence and submit this information to Organized Play staff by September to facilitate travel schedule planning.
  • Ensure every Venture-Captain maintains a searchable online presence (Warhorn listing, Meetup, Facebook group, website or other public-facing page) for their area.
  • Maintain awareness of Organized Play updates and standards by using the online communication tools (namely, checking the VO Discord server at least once a week as outlined in the VO Handbook).
  • Mentor area Venture-Officers through the planning and organizational processes of Premier and Premier Plus events in the region.
    • Promote Venture-Agents who are regularly organizing conventions to the Venture-Lieutenant position
    • Ensure that VAs/VLs who are organizing multiple conventions per year get the assistance they need, either in the form of help from VCs or additional VAs to spread the work out.
  • Assist GMs in achieving recognition requirements, including adjudication game(s) and evaluations. Ensure GMs receive feedback after the game and report the results to Organized Play staff via applicable forms.
  • Play in at least one game per quarter at a public venue or convention. This game should be part of a currently active program and should be open to public signup.
