These are the general rules for Pathfinder Society Playtests. See each playtest announcement for any rules specific to that playtest.
Playtest Characters
Players can create characters using options from any published playtest material. These characters are treated as a normal Pathfinder Society character and must otherwise follow all Character Creation rules.
Characters can continue using playtest rules even after the conclusion of the playtest period. Once the final version of a previously-playtested class is published, any characters using the playtest version must rebuild to use the published version of the class before their next game.
GM Opt In
Because playtests use additional rules that some GMs might not be comfortable with, each GM must opt-in for playtest characters to be used at their tables. Please consult your GM prior to the game!

Risks and Rewards Playtest

This playtest includes the Daredevil and Slayer classes.
Impossible Playtest
9 December 2024 to 31 January 2025
This playtest included the Necromancer and Runesmith classes.
Battlecry! Playtest
29 April to 21 June 2024
This playtest included the commander and guardian classes, later published in Battlecry!. The character must take a playtest class, and cannot take archetypes.
War of Immortals Playtest
1 September to 2 October 2023
This playtest included the animist and exemplar classes, later published in War of Immortals. The character must take a playtest class, and cannot take archetypes.
Kineticist Class Playtest
8 August to 5 September 2022
This playtest included the kineticst class, later published in Rage of Elements. The character must take a playtest class, and cannot take archetypes.
Dark Archive Playtest

This playtest included the psychic and thaumaturge classes, later published in Dark Archive. The character must take a playtest class, and cannot take archetypes.
Guns & Gears Playtest
5 January to 5 February 2021
